Neil O. Albert

Neil Albert has served as the District of Columbia's City Administrator since June 2009. Prior to his appointment to this position he worked as the Deputy Mayor for planning and economic development, where he was responsible for executing Mayor Fenty's economic development strategy and managing a development pipeline worth more than $13 billion in public-private housing, retail, office and parks projects throughout the District. Albert was also responsible for the District's efforts to create and preserve affordable housing and oversaw the District's business attraction and retention initiatives.

Prior to joining the Fenty Administration in 2007, Albert was co-founder and CEO of EdBuild, an educational services firm working to increase the number of high-performing schools in the District. He spent five years as a senior member of former Washington Mayor Anthony A. Williams’ administration and held a number of senior-level positions in the public and private sector in New York City. He was recently appointed by Mayor Fenty to serve as one of the District’s representatives to the board of directors of the Washington Metro and Transit Authority.  Albert serves on several boards in his capacity as deputy mayor, including the Washington Convention Center Authority and the District of Columbia Housing Authority. He is also co-chairman of the Washington, DC Economic Partnership and chairman of the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority board's committee on planning, development and real estate.
