Mayor Bowser to Attend Screening of Documentary “Southeast 67”

On Friday, April 29, Mayor Muriel Bowser will provide remarks at a screening of the award-winning documentary, Southeast 67, at the school where the story began. In the 1980s, 67 seventh graders in the District were promised college scholarships by an area businessman through a program called “I Have a Dream.” The documentary film follows their journey through Kramer Junior High School and beyond. The Office of the Deputy Mayor for Greater Economic Opportunity, along with DC Film and the March on Washington Film Festival, will host the screening and a short panel discussion with educators and “dreamers” featured in the film.

The event is free and open to the public.
