(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, Mayor Bowser released the following statement regarding the confirmation of DC Public Schools Chancellor Antwan Wilson:

“Today, we begin an exciting new chapter for DC schools. I thank all of the educators and community members who have worked so hard to get us to where we are today, and I celebrate that we have another chancellor at the head of our schools who cares deeply about students and will keep the academic and socio-emotional needs of our youth as his number one priority. We are at a time when families in Washington, DC have more confidence in our schools than ever, but are also eager to see improvements. After years of reform, we are keenly aware of the challenges our schools and students still face and Antwan Wilson has the passion, determination and ideas for tackling those challenges. I look forward to working with Chancellor Wilson to ensure that families in every ward feel like they have high-quality school options at every level.”
