Mayor Bowser Announces Director of the Mayor’s Office of Legal Counsel

(Washington, DC) Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the appointment of Mark H. Tuohey as the first Director of the Mayor's Office of Legal Counsel (MOLC). In this capacity, Tuohey will provide legal and policy advice to the Mayor, as well as, Executive Branch agencies of the District, and supervise the work of agency general counsels.

“Mark’s experience and expertise will be an invaluable asset to my Administration and the District as we move forward with a fresh start,” said Mayor Bowser. “Mark joins a team of top-notch legal professionals who day-in and day-out represent the interests of the District’s residents.”

Tuohey recently served as a partner at Brown Rudnick as a former federal prosecutor in Washington. He currently serves as Co-Chair of the DC Police Foundation.

Mark is a past President of the District of Columbia Bar, a Fellow of the American College of Trial Lawyers, and is annually named to The Best Lawyers in America, and Best Lawyers in Washington, DC.  He served as the Chair of the District of Columbia Sports and Entertainment Commission from 2004 to 2007, where he oversaw the return of Major League Baseball to Washington, DC, for which he was named Washingtonian of the Year in 2006.

Mark and his wife, Marty, have been residents of Ward 4 since 1974.

Today’s announcement took place during the DC Bar Association’s Meet the New DC Government reception.
