Mayor Bowser to Celebrate 19th Amendment and Women’s History Month with #FITDC HerStory 5K

(Washington, DC) – On Saturday, March 7, Mayor Muriel Bowser will celebrate Women’s History Month by hosting her 2nd Annual #FITDC HerStory 5K fun run/walk. The event is being held in partnership with the National Women’s History Museum, Mayor’s Office of Women’s Policy and Initiatives (MOWPI) and DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR) at Freedom Plaza. A signature event for the Mayor #FITDC health and wellness initiative, the HerStory 5K will bring together District residents of all ages and genders from all eight wards. Last year, the inaugural event attracted nearly 2,000 runners at Yards Park in Ward 6.

The event will also highlight local women-owned businesses, fitness brands, and feature a women’s history exhibit provided by the National Women’s History Museum. Post-race activities include the #FITDC Finish Festival with music and more. This free, timed race is open to the public and participants will receive giveaways. HerStory 5K partners include MOWPI, the National Women’s History Museum, BSN Sports, Amerigroup, VIDA Fitness, Pacers Running, and various fitness groups from across the District.
