Mayor Bowser to Join Chef José Andrés, Chef Spike Mendelsohn in Providing Meals to Furloughed Federal Employees

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Friday, January 25, at 1:30 pm, Mayor Bowser will join acclaimed chef and humanitarian José Andrés at his emergency pop-up kitchen, World Central Kitchen, and Chef Spike Mendelsohn to hand out prepped meals to federal furloughed employees in need.

World Central Kitchen is a non-profit organization devoted to providing meals in the wake of natural disasters. This specific pop-up kitchen has been providing meals to workers affected by the partial federal government shutdown since January 16, 2019. Chef Andrés also opened a Resource Center next door to provide support, groceries, as well as diapers and pet food to furloughed federal employees.
