Mayor Bowser to Launch The Lab @ DC

Announces $3.2 Million Grant from the Laura and John Arnold Foundation

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Thursday, July 20, at 11 am, Mayor Muriel Bowser will launch The Lab @ DC, a research team using the latest scientific insights and methods in order to improve policies and services for Washington, DC. The first collaboration of its kind, The Lab @ DC will design policy and program interventions based on theory and evidence from academic research and administrative data; conduct high-quality evaluations to learn how well things work and how to improve government services; and foster a scientific community of practice, engagement, and cooperation with experts and stakeholders.

The Mayor will also announce a $3.2 million grant from the Laura and John Arnold Foundation that supports the launch of this initiative. Ultimately, The Lab @ DC will help District officials use the most timely, up-to-date information for day-to-day operations across Washington, DC.
