Mayor Bowser to Visit Local Businesses During Community Walk in Ward 7, Highlighting Efforts of DC Businesses that Hire DC Residents

Monday, October 15, 2018

(WASHINGTON, DC) – On Tuesday, October 16, at 3 pm, Mayor Bowser will be joined by Administration officials to participate in a community walk in the Hillbrook neighborhood of Ward 7. During the walk, the Mayor will address neighborhood concerns, hear from DC residents, and highlight local businesses and their efforts to hire DC residents along a commercial corridor that is currently undergoing a rejuvenating transformation as a part of the Minnesota Avenue Revitalization Project. By getting more residents prepared for jobs, the Bowser Administration has remained focused on giving all residents a fair shot at pathways to the middle class.

Phase 2 of the Minnesota Avenue Revitalization Project began on September 11, 2017. The purpose and scope of this project is to increase multi-modal safety in the corridor for residents and businesses. The enhancements to Minnesota Avenue include, but are not limited to, streetscape work with new roadway and sidewalks, new traffic signal upgrades, new streetlights, new landscape with LID features and a tree canopy, utility upgrades, ADA upgrades, pavement markings, and more.
