Mayor Bowser to Welcome Home Portner Flats Families

Creates Mixed-Income Community with 96 Affordable Units, Doubling Amount from Previous Site

(Washington, DC) – On Thursday, May 10, at 3:30 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will cut the ribbon on the Portner Flats Apartments, a new mixed-income, mixed-use property in the Cardozo/Shaw neighborhood of Ward 1. District government financing of this $43 million project helped preserve affordability for tenants from the original site, doubling the amount of affordable housing to 96 units, and providing new community services.

Since coming into office, the Bowser Administration has sparked the creation or preservation of more than 10,800 affordable units, with another 5,200 in pre-construction.
