Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser welcomed the 2015 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo – the world’s largest conference on sustainable building, green development, and clean technologies – to the District of Columbia.

“I am proud to welcome energy and environmental leaders from around the world to the nation’s capital for the 2015 Greenbuild Conference,” said Mayor Bowser. “The District of Columbia is an international leader in green building, clean energy and sustainable communities.  We will continue to do our part to create green jobs and build a more sustainable community – it’s good for our environment, our economy, and the health of future generations.”

Mayor Bowser has made sustainability a key focus of her Administration. This year, the District signed the largest wind power purchase agreement of any US city – saving DC taxpayers $45 million over the next 20 years. The District is also home to more LEED and ENERGY STAR-certified buildings per capita than any other city in the country, and is the first in green power purchases among US cities for three years running.

The conference and expo will be held at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center from November 18-20, 2015. Now in its 14th year, Greenbuild is produced by the US Green Building Council. It convenes over 700 suppliers and manufacturers of the latest green building products and technologies, and features global industry leaders, experts and professionals dedicated to sustainable building. Nearly 18,000 people from over 80 countries attended last year’s event in New Orleans, and a larger attendance is expected this year.
