Mayor Bowser celebrates #RootstoRoofs DC Housing Week with a series of events highlighting her Administration’s progress in creating and preserving affordable housing options across the District. The variety of options showcases the Mayor’s commitment to providing all Washingtonians a fair shot and a pathway to the middle class.                                  

  • On Monday, Mayor Bowser will host a demonstration that envisions “Tiny House” living in DC.
  • On Tuesday, Mayor Bowser will attend the Mayor Council breakfast. She will then break ground on Capitol Vista, a multifamily apartment development in Ward 6 with 104 affordable units and ground floor retail. The Mayor will close out the day at the Mayor’s Arts Awards at the Lincoln Theater to celebrate and honor outstanding achievements in the arts, humanities, and creative industries.
  • On Wednesday, Mayor Bowser will cut the ribbon on a short-term family housing building in Ward 4, marking a monumental step forward in her Administration’s effort to close and replace DC General Family Shelter with dignified, service-enriched programs across all eight wards. Later, the Mayor will attend the 2nd District MPD Citizens Advisory Awards Banquet to celebrate and recognize officers and staff of the Second District for their excellent performance and going above and beyond the call of duty.
  • On Thursday, the Mayor will travel to Columbia, South Carolina for the US Conference of Mayors Fall Leadership Conference.
  • On Saturday, Mayor Bowser will celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month at the Fiesta DC Parade.
  • On Monday, October 1, Mayor Bowser will break ground on Delta Towers, an affordable senior housing building comprised of 179 residential units and retail.
