Mayor Bowser to Host San Salvador Mayor to Celebrate a Local Non-Profit’s Funding of New Library in San Salvador

(WASHINGTON, DC) – Today, Thursday, January 3, at 3 pm, Mayor Muriel Bowser will host a signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) between Mayor Ernesto Luis Muyshondt García-Prieto of San Salvador, El Salvador and DC’s MCN Build Foundation, for a $500,000 donation from MCN to the city of San Salvador to create a new library.

This generous action is a direct result of Mayor Bowser’s Sister City Agreement with San Salvador, El Salvador signed in August, 2018. At that time, Mayor Bowser traveled to and across El Salvador to connect with the home country of more than 300,000 Salvadoran residents who call the DC region their home today. During the exchange, the Mayor established a cooperative relationship between the two cities to further the areas of economic development, youth development, public safety, sustainability, culture, education and government collaboration.
