The Office for East of the River Services (ERS) was established by Mayor Muriel Bowser in January 2019 to elevate the work and progress begun by the former Office of the Deputy Mayor for Greater Economic Opportunity. The new office is housed in the Office of the City Administrator and is responsible for identifying, elevating, and addressing challenges faced by District residents in predominately Wards 7 and 8.

The office will coordinate across District Government with agencies and external stakeholders to address these challenges and provide ongoing support for communities.

Leadership

Timothy White
Executive Director

Timothy White serves as the Executive Director of the Office of East of the River Services. He comes to the position having served as interim Chief of Staff for the District's Department of Employment Services.  Timothy has a robust portfolio of serving  District residents having started his career local government with the District Department of Transportation, and then as Deputy Chief of Staff for the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development.  In this role, he also served as the agency's representative on the Open Government Advisory Group. As Deputy Chief of Staff, he was responsible for the day-to-day oversight of government agencies and ensuring their strategic alignment with the administration’s priorities.

Tim holds a Batchelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia and is a proud District resident.
