(WASHINGTON, DC) – Mayor Bowser today released her 42 Month Progress Report. The report delivers on the Mayor’s commitment to transparency and accountability and provides a comprehensive summary of the Bowser Administration’s progress.

“Forty-two months ago, our city committed to giving more Washingtonians a fair shot,” said Mayor Bowser. “We committed to building a safer, stronger DC, to promoting and defending our DC values, to expanding opportunities for our students and providing more families with the resources and support they need to thrive, and to building more pathways to the middle class for residents in all eight wards. Together, we have made incredible progress.”

The 42 Month Progress Report is broken down into sections on education, public safety, jobs and economic opportunity, housing and homelessness, infrastructure, environmental issues, seniors, and health care.

Examples of progress highlighted in the 42 Month Progress Report include:

• Decreases in unemployment in Ward 7 by 29.5 percent and in Ward 8 by 28 percent
• Decrease in citywide violent crime year-to-date from 2014 to 2018 by 27 percent
• $94 million increase in funding for public schools in School Year 2018-2019
• Increase in investments in permanent supportive housing by 60 percent
• Decrease in families experiencing homelessness from 2016 to 2018 by 40 percent

This is the fourth progress report released by the Bowser Administration, and the 42 Month Progress Report and all previous progress reports can be found at mayor.dc.gov/progressreport. In addition to releasing annual progress reports, at the beginning of each year, Mayor Bowser also releases a transition plan accountability report, detailing the Administration’s progress in delivering, launching, or preparing to launch the commitments Mayor Bowser made during the 2014/2015 mayoral transition.
